The poorly drawn monkey that appears in the first strip was never supposed to be anything other than the punchline for the first joke. Indeed, had a better joke been planned out for the first strip he'd easily not exist. Turns out he's one of the favorites around here these days. He's also the only rastor image in the comic, and it burns his soul every day of his life.
